    It is not open source, but Obsidian is head and shoulders above these options IMHO. It really excells as a note taking, and especially as a note organizing, app.

    One program I like for making notes is SimpleNote. It’s available for Android, in a web browser and as a Linux Application (at least under Ubuntu). It allows the user to enter information as either simple text or as Markdown.
